Imagine

This is one of those poetic, insightful songs that I love. It is especially poignant today as my country Kenya goes through untold violence due to inequalities brought about by a culture of greed and hoarding. Think of our brothers and sisters who are dead in the name of land clashes and mungiki. I have taken the liberty of substituting some of Lennon's words with mine, to localise the song. Imagine there no heaven Its easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today Imagine there’s no country (tribe) It isn’t hard to do Nothing to give or to die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace You may say am a dreamer But am not the only one I hope some day you will join us And the world(country) will be as one Imagine no booze sessions I wonder if you can No need for grief or anger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world(country) You may say am a dreamer But am not the only one I hope some day you will join us And the world will be as one Imagine all the people Living for today You may say am a dreamer But am not the only one I hope some day you will join us And the world (country)will be as one You may say am a dreamer But am not the only one I hope some day you will join us And the world will be as one. John Lennon
